Banje Beach

The most famous beach in Dubrovnik is definitely the Banje Beach. It is perfectly located right next to the historical old town and while swimming in the clear sea you can enjoy an unbelievably beautiful scenery with a view of the city walls, the old harbor and the island Lokrum. The sea here is turquoise blue and provides a spectacular contrast to the red roofs of the city center.

Banje Beach is a pebble beach with some rocky sections. There is hardly any natural shade here, but deck chairs and parasols can be rented on site for a fee. Right behind the bathing bay there is the Banje-Beach Restaurant, which attracts mainly younger people in party mood with DJs and cool drinks. See and be seen is the motto here!

Tip: There are a lot of accommodations near the beach. Perfect if you want to combine sightseeing and beach holiday. Very recommendable for a stay is the beautiful  5-star Hotel Excelsior or the cozy Apartment Dubrovnik Center.

Sunset Beach

Very popular for a holiday is the Sunset Beach in Dubrovnik, also known as Uvala Lapad Beach. It is located on the Lapad peninsula, the tourist center of the city. The beach is situated in a long-drawn-out bay, where you will find many more great bathing possibilities. There is also a nice promenade, lots of restaurants and cafes, and many beach activities like Jet Ski, SUP and a Water Park. The scenery is also fantastic during sunset, which is the reason why this beautiful bay is called Sunset Beach.

Sunset Beach is the best place to combine a beach holiday in Dubrovnik with sightseeing. Due to the perfect connection by bus or taxi (Uber) you are in the old town in no time and you can enjoy the beautiful beaches of the Lapad Peninsula.

Close to the beach you will find many good accommodations, like the fabulous, very clean and top equipped Apartment Timy or the beautiful Hotel More.

Beach Sveti Jakov

Absolutely unique in Dubrovnik is the beach Plaza Sveti Jakov, which has already been chosen by several magazines as one of the most beautiful beaches in Croatia. It is an absolute dream beach surrounded by spectacular rocks and with a beautiful view of the city of Dubrovnik. Swimming in the crystal clear sea, you will enjoy fantastic turquoise colors and top water quality.

You can get down to the beach via steps, wherefrom you have a wonderful view of the beach and the light blue sea. Downstairs there is an inviting beach bar and a nice restaurant. Umbrellas and sun beds can also be rented on site.

Tip: Right above the beach is the Guest House Carevic with a magnificent view and beautiful rooms.

Betina Cave Beach

A real insider tip among the hidden beaches of Dubrovnik is the Betina Cave Beach. This beach jewel is located a little north from the old town and can only be reached via a sea route, i.e. by kayak or boat. When you arrive for the first time, you will be amazed by the unique beach scenery: A beautiful natural bay located in a rock cave. The sea here shines in the most beautiful colors and thanks to the natural environment you can enjoy snorkeling and discover an interesting underwater world!

Betina Cave Beach is a rather rocky beach, where bathing shoes are a definite advantage. There are neither restaurants nor bars, so you should definitely bring your own food.

Tip: Really fantastic tours by kayak from Dubrovnik, which also stop at this natural bay, can be found here on GetyourGuide!

Old Town Beaches (Bard Mala Buza & Buza Beach)

Also in the old town, along the huge walls, a few small beaches were created. These bathing places are rocky stone beaches, where ladders or stone stairs lead into the sea. These beaches are especially popular with couples who enjoy the wild and romantic atmosphere at the beach bars. Due to the high rocks, these beaches are also very suitable for cliff jumping.

The two most beautiful beaches in the old town of Dubrovnik are certainly the famous Buza Beach and the almost even more beautiful Bard Mala Buza. On both beaches there is a beach bar where you can also rent sunbeds.

Tip: If you would like to reside in the old town, we can recommend the Apartment La Petite.

Coral Beach Club

Dubrovnik is famous for its rather noble scene and the many cool beach clubs. One of the most beautiful is the Coral Beach Club on the Lapad peninsula. Here a small, very cozy paradise was created: At this wonderful fine pebble beach a chic ambience awaits you; tastefully furnished and with many beautiful wooden elements. The turquoise blue sea is also uniquely beautiful here and is very suitable for swimming and snorkeling. If you like, you can rent a beach bar couch with an umbrella and let yourself be spoilt with delicious cocktails.

Here too: see and be seen! Especially young and hip people meet here to chill out and listen to cool music in an exclusive ambience.

Tip: The beach of the Coral Beach Club is a public beach. Thus, one can use this beach jewel also without having to consume anything! In the upper beach section there are enough free places to roll out your own towel.

Šulić Beach

The small beach Šulić is located in Pile, very close to the old town and is another top beach on the list of the best beaches in Dubrovnik. This little jewel is picturesquely situated beneath the Lovrejenac fortress and so you can enjoy a wonderful view of the historic castle while swimming. Thanks to its hidden location, the Šulić beach is never overcrowded, which guarantees a pleasant swimming adventure.

On site you can rent kayaks and paddle along the coast around Dubrovnik. A really great way to discover even more bays and beaches. Just above the beach there is a very nice beach bar and a cozy restaurant with a wonderful view.

Bellevue Beach

One of the probably most beautiful bays in this region is the Bellevue Beach, directly in the city of Dubrovnik, just below the Hotel Bellevue. The descent over the steep steps right behind the hotel already offers a breathtaking view! An absolute dream beach awaits you here, surrounded by steep cliffs, with wonderful crystal clear water and fine pebbles.

You can enjoy the top water quality while swimming and thanks to the many stones around the bay, this beach is perfect to go snorkeling. If you are lucky, you can watch brave cliff divers jump from the rocks into the deep blue sea while sunbathing!

Tip: Right next door is the Hotel Rixos Premium Dubrovnik, one of the best hotels in town!

Beach Pasjaca

One of the most spectacular beaches in the Dubrovnik area and a real insider’s tip is Pasjaca beach, which is located about 25 kilometers east of the city. The descent, which leads over a paved path along a steep rock face and through a small tunnel, is really exciting. When you arrive at the bottom, a picture-book beach scenery awaits you. Especially the high red rock walls are fascinating here, which provide a fantastic contrast to the picturesque sea colors.

Sandy beach Sunj (Lobud Island)

Probably one of the most beautiful sandy beaches of Dubrovnik is Beach Sunj on the island of Lopud, which is part of the Elaphite archipelago. This dream beach is a real, very fine sandy beach that drops into the sea quite flatly. Here you can wade through the warm water, play ball in the sea and enjoy the fine sand between your toes. Although there are nearly no shady places on this gorgeous sand beach, there are parasols and sunbeds for rent on the spot.

The Sunj Beach is very easy to reach from Dubrovnik. You can either take the public ferry or book a day trip and explore all 3 Elaphite Islands.

Tip: If you love the silence, you also have the possibility to stay overnight on the island Lopud, for example in The Little Prince, which inspires with a wonderful view.

Beaches of Mlini, Plat, Cavtat

In the surroundings of Dubrovnik, along the Dubrovnik Riviera, there are many other beautiful holiday resorts, all of which have beautiful beaches. Especially popular are Mlini (10 kilometres), Cavtat (20 kilometers), but also the quiet village Plat (13 kilometers). Here you can spend wonderful holidays and thanks to the good connection to the public transport network you can visit Dubrovnik on a short trip.

Buses and boats run several times a day between the resorts on the Riviera. But also vice versa, i.e. from Dubrovnik city, it is worthwhile to make an excursion to the beaches of the surrounding area.
