Best Beaches in Murter
Murter Island is famous for its beautiful beaches. Here are some of the best that you shouldn`t miss when you are around for vacation:
The Slanica beach is one of the most popular beaches in Murter. It’s a sandy beach with crystal clear water and it’s a gently shelving beach where little children can play safely. Above all, the beach is popular with families. Slanica Beach offers some good restaurants and beach-bars as well as beach activities like jet-ski, volleyball and tennis.
The Podvrske beach is definitely one of the most beautiful beaches in Croatia! It`s a mixture of rocky and sandy beach and there is a pier for smaller boats too.
The watercolor is amazing and the beach is calm and tranquil.
Beach Cigrada is a picturesque pebble beach in the south of Murter. The atmosphere is really enjoyable there and the Lantana Pizzeria serves great pizza! Amazing clear waters and a perfect spot to stay for one day.
The beach is a mixture of sandy, graveled and rocky beach. It has 2 beach bars and a camp inside the bay! The best view of the beach you are going to find on the road to Murter.
Places on Murter island
- Murter (town) is one of Murter Island`s most beautiful little towns and carries the same name as the island. The main beach is the picturesque Slanica beach, a sandy beach with crystal clear water which is popular with families. The town owns a small marina from where Kornati Island and other excursions start. Additionally it has a cute old town with lovely cafes and some of the best restaurants.
- Tisno dates back to 1474 and is separated by the bascule bridge from the main island. The vegetation in Tisno is very green and lush and a long promenade invites visitors to take long summer strolls.
- Betina is just lovely and it’s considered to be one of the most beautiful places in this area. Also Betina is known for its caulkers – ship-builders.
- Jezera is a typical Dalmatian fishing village and it is the smallest town on Otok Murter.

We had been eating out in several restaurants during our stay. 2 of them we would like to recommend: Fine Food Mac for international cuisine and Konoba Karaka for traditionally Croatian cuisine.
Activities on Murter Island
Apart from sunbathing, the Island offers a wide range of activities for its guests:
Cycling along lanes by the sea is a wonderful experience and you can explore all the islands by bike. Several spots along the coast invite you to take a break and jump into the blue sea.
For the sportive ones: There are two tennis courts, one in Jezera and one in Murter. And you will find plenty of opportunities of water sport activities like windsurfing, scuba diving and sailing.

Best things to do around Murter
We highly recommend a sightseeing trip to this historic Dalmatian town of Sibenik. The rich cultural and historical heritage of the city is immense and Sibenik is surely one of the top places to see in Croatia. For all Game of Thornes fans: Sibenik appears as a film location in three episodes of Game of Thrones! From Murter to Sibenik it’s only about 35 kilometres.
Krka National Park

The medieval town of Trogir is definitely worth a visit. The old town is very well preserved, just get lost and explore the town through a relaxing walk.
