The island of Pasman is located in Dalmatia, near the coastal towns of Zadar and Biograd Na Moru, and can be reached from the mainland via the Pašmanski Channel in about 20 minutes by ferry. With a size of only 60.11 km² and with about 3,400 inhabitants, it belongs to the smaller Croatian islands. Only one main road leads from the Ždrelac bridge in the north for about 20 kilometers to the village of Tkon in the south. Tkon

One of the most famous resorts on Pasman is the harbor town of Tkon in the southeast of the island. With almost 800 inhabitants, it is the largest village on the island, and the ferry coming from the mainland also docks there at the harbor. Around Tkon there are wonderful beaches, which offer the best conditions for a bathing vacation. The most important attractions include the Benedictine Monastery from the 14th century, which towers over the town on a hill. Moreover, the small, charming old town center with its traditional Dalmatian stone houses is cute, where the church of St. Thomas from the 11th century is also located. A real insider tip is taking a walk, up to the church of “Our Lady of the Seven Sorrows” from where you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the village of Tkon.

Benedictine Monastery Ćokovac

One of the best things to do in Pasman is a visit to the Benedictine Monastery Ćokovac. Also known as Benedictine Monastery of Saint Cosmas and Damian, it is one of the most interesting historical attractions on the island of Pasman. Above all, the location of the monastery on a hill above Tkon is a dream, from where visitors can enjoy a fascinating view of the coast of Pasman all the way across to the mainland. The history of this holy place dates back to the 12th century, when in the Middle Ages the monastery was built on the foundations of an older church ruin. Later, in the 14th century, the structure was rebuilt after being destroyed. Nowadays, 6 monks still live in this monastery, and thus the Ćokovac Monastery is the only Benedictine monastery still inhabited in Croatia.

Tip: From outside worth seeing, the Benedictine monastery can also be visited from inside. It opens every day except Sunday and holiday from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm.

Tkon Lookout Tower

A trip to the Tkon Lookout Tower is a dreamlike experience on Pasman. This viewing platform is located in the south of the island, and can be reached either by a 1-hour hike from Tkon, by mountain bike, or even by car along a rather bumpy gravel road. Once at the summit, there is a stone lookout tower and a nice spot for having a picnic. From up there you can enjoy the most spectacular view of the Kornati Islands to the west, the mainland of the Zadar region to the east and the north of Pasman. Pasman

Franciscan Monastery & Church of St. Dominus

The Franciscan Monastery and the gothic church of St. Dominus are one of the most beautiful attractions in Pasman. It is situated in the small village of Kraj, in a scenic location directly by the sea between vineyards and olive groves, and today it houses a museum. The history of this monastery goes back as early as 1392, with parts of the monastery being renovated in the 17th century. Absolutely worth seeing is the ancient dining room, the cloister, as well as the 15th century image of the Virgin Mary with the Child Jesus. During a visit, you will also be amazed by an interesting exhibition of traditional costumes, valuable art treasures and jewelry. In the enchanting courtyard, concerts are held regularly during the high season.

Dobropoljana

The fishing village of Dobropoljana is a wonderful tip for a beach vacation on Pasman. It is located on the east coast of the island, beneath the mountain Veliki Bokolj and inspires in so many ways. A true dream is the charming Plaza Dobropoljana, which is considered to be one of the most charming beaches on the island and promises relaxing days by the sea. The turquoise blue water colors are to fall in love with, and small pebble bays are just perfect for swimming. Although the village is relatively small, there is a restaurant, a beach bar and a grocery store. Some wonderful accommodations have also settled around the resort. One of the main attractions is the small 15th century church of Sv. Tome, located at the entrance to the village.

Church of Our Lady of Loreto

The Church of Our Lady of Loreto from the year 1935, better known as Crkva Gospa od Loreta, is a real highlight of the island of Pasman. It’s an important pilgrimage site for locals, located near the resort of Banj and can be reached from there by hiking or by car. From the parking lot under the church, a rather stony, 10-minute cross path leads up to the chapel. Good shoes are advisable here. Once at the top, you will experience a gigantic view over the island of Pasman as well as the opposite island of Dugi Otok. A visit in the evening is also a romantic experience because from the church you can see the most spectacular sunsets of Pasman.

Mrljane

Mrljane is one of the most beautiful places for a vacation on Pasman. Simply enchanting is the quiet, idyllic ambience in the village, which one enjoys during a stay. During a walk, you will discover typical Croatian stone houses and also the church Sv. Ante Padovanskog from the 18th century is worth seeing. In the resort there are some really wonderful beaches, which are perfect for relaxing and swimming. A real dream is also the view of the offshore island Otocic Garmenjak, which you can reach in no time by SUP or Kayak. In addition, the fishing village has a small, romantic harbor and a long promenade leads to the neighboring village of Pasman. Restaurants and a nice beach bar provide for culinary well-being.

Zedrelac

The resort of Zedrelac is located in the north of the island of Pasman, in the area where the bridge Ždrelac connects the two islands of Ugljan and Pasman. With a height of 274 meters, Veliki Bokolj is the highest mountain on the island of Pašman. It is a popular destination for hiking as well as mountain bike tours, but can also be easily reached by car via a gravel road. Once at the top, there is a lovely resting place for a picnic, and at the top you can still see the remains of an old circular wall. The highlight is of course the gigantic 360° view over the island of Pasman to the Kornati islands and the mainland. Nevidane

The fishing village of Nevidane is one of the most romantic places on the island of Pasman.
