General information about Bibinje

Bibinje is located on the coast of Dalmatia, about 8 kilometers south of the city of Zadar and 1 kilometer north of the resort of Sukosan. The municipality has about 4,000 inhabitants and is one of the most popular vacation destinations in the Zadar region. Here you can find everything that makes a vacationer’s heart beat faster: fantastic restaurants, cozy cafes, a picturesque promenade, a small dreamy old town and one of the largest marinas in Croatia. Also the proximity to the world-famous cultural city of Zadar and the countless places to visit in the surrounding area make Bibinje extremely attractive as a destination in Croatia.

The history of Bibinje dates back to Roman times, when a former warlord built the Villa Rustika. However, the first written record dates back to 1214, when Bibinje had still been called Bibanum. In 1570, the settlement was destroyed by the Ottomans and was only rebuilt in the 17th century. Formerly a small sleepy fishing village, Bibinje has become a really attractive town for a vacation nowadays.

A popular meeting place, especially in the evening when the restaurants and bars fill up, is the town center of Bibinje. It is located on a small peninsula and runs around the romantic harbor basin. A promenade lined with palm trees is located along the shore, which, with a length of 4 kilometers, invites you to take long walks along the picturesque coast. It is located at the southern end of the resort and connects the two villages Sukošan and Bibinje with each other. Even non-nautical enthusiasts can visit Marina Dalmacija for an entrance fee, marvel at the countless boats in the huge area or swim at the beautifully landscaped beach.
