The Lamai Beach Beach

Turquoise blue sea and a wide sandy beach, this beach is like out of a holiday magazine. Certainly, the Lamai Beach belongs to one of the most beautiful beaches on Koh Samui. Due to its length of about 4 kilometers, this sandy beach is ideal for long beach walks. A holiday on Lamai Beach is ideal for those who like it quiet during the day, but still want to enjoy some nightlife in the evening. An optimal mix of hustle and bustle. During the day, the tourists are spread out on the long sandy beach, so everyone will find an undisturbed spot under the sun. In the evening there is a promenade, the Lamai Beach Road to go for a stroll, shopping and dining out.

Lamai Beach is really good for swimming. The sea at Lamia Beach is turquoise blue and wonderfully warm. Particularly at the south of the beach are the optimal conditions for swimming. Also, at this part the beach is the most scenic.

For snorkeling, the Lamai Beach is actually not that recommended. In general there are only a few places for snorkeling on Koh Samui. Anyway, better you go on a snorkeling trip and visit the neighboring islands like Koh Phangan, Koh Tao or the Ang Thong National Park.

The area around the Lamai has a really good tourist infrastructure. Compared to Chaweng Beach, this beach is a bit quaint and cheaper. During a walk at the beach you will still find some good restaurants, massage options and beach bars.

Best Things To Do

In an around Lamia Beach are plenty of cool things to do. Probably the most famous thing to see is the Grandfather & Grandmother Rock (Hin Ta and Hin Yai) at the southern end of the Lamai. The unusual rock formations, often known as penis rocks, are a popular destination for island exploration tours. Visitors are astonished by what Mother Nature has created there.

Another highlight and a real insider tip is a visit to the Overlap Stone. The attraction is located on a hill behind Lamai Beach, and from this huge oval stone you have a great view over the landscape around the beach. Not getting enough of great views, then you should also visit the Lamai Viewpoint. From the terrace you will also have amazing views down to the sea. Also some interesting temples are located around Lamai. For example, there is the Wat Ratchathammaram, a beautiful temple that shines in terracotta colors. Or the Guan Yu Shrine, a modern Chinese temple, which just opened in 2016.
