Piran Old Town Beach

The idyllic beaches in Piran Old Town give this coastal town a fascinating charm that attracts visitors from all over the world. Vacationers love the well-kept and extremely charming concrete beaches, where stairs provide easy access to the cool water. The most beautiful city beach stretches along the promenade of Piran’s old town and offers visitors the opportunity to relax by the sea after sightseeing. A real highlight is the turquoise blue of the crystal clear water, which together with the colorful town houses creates an incomparable postcard scenery. The atmosphere is very relaxed and casual, inviting you to linger and sunbathe.

The most beautiful beach is in front of the Hotel Piran and the Giuseppe Tartini Theater. A little further along the promenade is Plaza Punta, a concrete beach with easy access to the sea. Just below the church of St. George on the steep coast is another quiet natural beach, often used as a nudist beach.

Tip: A good choice for a vacation is to stay at the Hotel Piran. Guests love the unbeatable location just behind the beach and the breakfast is fantastic.

Fornače Beach

The Plaza Fornače is one of the most charming beaches in Piran, and what’s more, it’s a great choice for a few wonderful hours by the sea. It is situated on the picturesque promenade just before the historical center, where the large parking lot in front of the old town is also located. This beautifully landscaped stretch of coastline consists of a mix of well-maintained concrete and pebble beaches. Wide steps provide easy access to the crystal clear sea. There are also lovely landscaped terraces and concrete areas perfect for sunbathing and relaxing. In some places, there are also green areas where the Mediterranean trees provide a pleasant shade.

All in all, Fornace Beach is a charming urban beach with beautiful sea colors and a pleasant atmosphere. Even in high season, this beach is not crowded and you can enjoy a relaxed atmosphere away from the hustle and bustle.

Fiesa Beach

The picturesque Fiesa beach is a real jewel near Piran. The magnificent bay is one of the most beautiful beaches in the area and an insider’s tip for a time-out on the picturesque Slovenian Adriatic coast. This pebble beach has wonderful colors of the sea, concrete sunbathing areas and green meadows with trees. The water in this part of Piran is clear and you can admire a marvelous underwater world while snorkeling. The tourist offer on the beach of Fiesa is also fabulous. There is a wide range of entertainment and a well known diving school that offers diving courses. For the physical well-being there are several restaurants and an ice cream parlor.

This dream beach is located a little north of the coastal town and can be reached either by car or, even better, via the scenic hiking trail from Piran. There are also several secluded, quiet natural bays for swimming just below the coastal path.

Tip: There are two 3-star hotels right on the beach, the Hotel Fiesa and the Hotel Barbara, and the Kamp Fiesa campsite is also located not far from the beach.

Portoroz Beach

The Portoroz Beach is a famous tourist destination on the Slovenian coast and the most popular beach in the Piran area. It is located in a resort of the same name, Portoroz, about 4 kilometers from the old town of Piran. The two places are connected by public bus, but can also be reached by bicycle or on foot along the promenade. Portoroz has a beautiful, sophisticated atmosphere, where nostalgic villas and a picturesque coastline promise an unforgettable vacation by the sea. The main beach there is a great mix of concrete and sandy beaches and green sunbathing lawns, offering the best conditions for swimming and sunbathing.

The beach in Portoroz has even been awarded the Blue Flag and is ideal for families with children as well. The sandy bottom makes it easy to get in the water, lifeguards keep you safe, and the sports and entertainment facilities are excellent.

Tip: An excellent option for an extravagant seaside holiday is the Kempinski Palace, one of the best hotels in the resort.

Beach Grand Hotel Bernardin

One of the most beautiful beaches between Piran and Portoroz is the beach Grand Hotel Bernardin. This exclusive beach belongs to the 5-star Grand Hotel Bernardin, which rises just behind the coast. This beautiful, well-kept stretch of coastline is very popular with vacationers and is ideal for a beach vacation on the Slovenian coast. The beach is a mixture of concrete, stone and pebble, offering visitors the best conditions for swimming and sunbathing. Some steps lead down to the sea, and there is also a small beautiful pebble cove, which is especially popular with families with children. A cool beach bar provides refreshments for the guests.

Although the Grand Hotel Bernardin is a 5-star hotel, the beach is open to all visitors, whether they are hotel guests or not. However, external visitors must rent umbrellas and deck chairs for a fee.

Pacug Beach

The Pacug Beach is an insider’s tip for a few relaxing days of swimming near Piran. This hidden little cove is located halfway between Strunjan and Piran, and a rather steep road leads down to the beach. This is a meeting point for individualists who are looking for a bit of swimming and relaxation away from the more crowded beaches. Once there, a particularly picturesque coastline awaits the visitor, where the green vegetation and the white rocks create an enchanting atmosphere. The sea at Plaza Pacug is particularly clear, and thanks to the natural environment, this beach is also excellent for snorkeling. There are concrete sunbathing areas and a jetty that invites you to take a refreshing dip.

Moon Bay

The enchanting Moon Bay, located about 8 kilometers from the center of Piran, is undoubtedly one of the most famous beaches in the area. Also known as Mesečev zaliv Beach, it has been voted one of the most beautiful beaches in Slovenia several times. As a part of the magnificent Strunjan Nature Park, visitors can expect a first class beach experience. The unique crescent shape of the beach, together with the turquoise sea, the fascinating landscape and the high cliffs, create a picture postcard atmosphere. Even in the high season, this beach is quiet and completely unspoilt.

However, Moon Bay can only be reached by a short hike starting from the parking lot in Strunjan. Sturdy footwear is a must for the final descent to the natural beach. Alternatively, you can reach the beach by boat.
