Some of these breathtaking dream beaches are still wonderfully secluded—perfect if you’re looking for peace and relaxation. But which are the most beautiful beaches in Rovinj, where can you find real insider tips, and which bays are best suited for a beach holiday?

In this travel guide, we reveal the most beautiful beaches in Rovinj, Croatia. This beach guide is based on our many trips to Istria and extensive research along the coastline. We’ll also show you stunning photos and share useful tips and information to help you plan your trip.

Mulini Beach

The picturesque Mulini Beach is definitely one of the best beaches in Rovinj. Located in a charming bay, you can expect uniquely beautiful turquoise sea colors along with a fantastic mix of concrete platforms and pebble areas. What we especially loved is the location within a sheltered bay. The sea is particularly calm, making it ideal for swimming and snorkeling.

From Rovinj’s old town, you can easily reach Mulini Beach on foot via the seaside promenade, which first passes through the marina and then continues into the beautiful forest park. Public parking is 200 meters behind the beach, and also some of the best places to stay in Rovinj for a perfect beach vacation are not far away.

Tip: The magnificent 5-Star Hotel Monte Mulini is located directly above this dream beach, the perfect accommodation for a special beach vacation in Rovinj!

Baluota Beach (Monte)

Probably the most beautiful beach in Rovinj’s old town is the picturesque Baluota Beach. It surprised us right from our first visit! Located just below the historic walls of the old town, this charming little rocky beach enchants visitors with an exceptionally romantic setting right in the historic center.

While swimming in the turquoise sea, you’ll also enjoy a fantastic view of the offshore island of Sveti Katarina. The water is wonderfully clear and, in our experience, also great for snorkeling. Many people come here especially in the evening, as this beach offers truly stunning sunsets.

Tip: Only about 20 meters from the Baluota beach is the lovely La Casa Isabella, which scores with top furnishings and a great location in the old town.

Lone Bay Beach

A very popular beach is the beautiful Lone Bay, located within Rovinj’s charming forest park. For us, it’s a true favorite and definitely one of the beaches we return to again and again when visiting Rovinj. This natural bay features a wonderfully scenic pebble beach surrounded by lush nature, fragrant pine forests, and a truly postcard-perfect setting.

While swimming, you’ll enjoy excellent water quality, and thanks to the crystal-clear sea, snorkeling is also fantastic here. If you like, you can rent a sun lounger and umbrella at the small beach bar or enjoy a coffee with a panoramic view of Rovinj.

Tip: Very close to the forest park, not far from the breathtaking beaches of Rovinj, is the Hotel Eden, which impresses with its magnificent location and the beautiful pool.

Borik Beach

Borik Beach is a wonderful option for a relaxing beach holiday in Rovinj. It is located in a quiet apartment area about 4 kilometers from the old town. Along this picturesque stretch of coastline, you’ll find several small pebble coves with turquoise waters and beautiful views of Rovinj.

Just behind the beach, there are three restaurants and a beach bar where you can enjoy delicious meals with a sea view. There are also playgrounds for children, water sports activities, and even a small aquapark for added fun. What stood out to us immediately: many locals also come here to swim, which is always a good sign.

Tip: Just behind the beach are some great vacation accommodations, such as the beautiful Apartments Figarola, which is especially recommended.

Katarina Island Beach

The beach on St. Katarina Island is considered one of the most beautiful beaches in Rovinj. Located just a few hundred meters from the town center, this tiny and very peaceful island can be reached in no time by shuttle boat. It’s ideal for anyone looking to spend a relaxing day away from the crowds.

Contrary to our expectations, it never felt overcrowded—even in peak season. The island is home to the former castle of Count Milewski, which is now part of a charming hotel. Even if you’re not staying at the hotel, you can visit the island and enjoy its beaches. The pebble coves on the southern side of the island are particularly stunning and perfect for swimming, sunbathing, and relaxing.

Tip: The Island Hotel Katarina is a fantastic choice for a laid-back beach holiday in Rovinj. Conveniently, a shuttle boat runs hourly between the island and the mainland.

Zlatni Rt Beach

Zlatni Rt Beach at Golden Cape is a true gem among Rovinj’s beaches. This beautiful natural beach is located within the forest park, where you’ll also discover a wide variety of scenic bays and beaches in a unique landscape.

For us, it’s one of the most beautiful stretches of coastline, although it’s less suitable for families with small children due to the rugged rocks. The flat rock surfaces are perfect for undisturbed sunbathing, and the refreshing, clear sea provides a welcome cool-down. The many pine trees lining the coast offer wonderful shade and create a perfect Mediterranean atmosphere.

Tip: The best way to get to Zlatni Rt is on foot via the forest park promenade or by bike. Parking spaces are available in front of the forest park.

Punta Cabana Beach

The beach near the Punta Cabana Beach Bar is incredibly beautiful and also a true hidden gem among the best beaches in Rovinj. We swam here several times and found the peaceful atmosphere especially enjoyable.

This lovely bay is somewhat hidden within the forest park and can be easily reached via the park’s scenic walking paths. The stunning turquoise sea colors, fine pebbles, and lush greenery create a truly unique panorama that you definitely shouldn’t miss. Away from the busy main beaches, you’ll find a serene and almost magical setting that is hard to match elsewhere.

Tip: Also, the Punta Cabana Beach Bar is worth a visit. Here you experience a unique ambience, there are hammocks, brilliant vinyl music and delicious cocktails.

Porton Biondi Beach

The picturesque Porton Biondi Beach is definitely one of the most popular beaches in Rovinj. It is located slightly north of the center, just a 15-minute walk from the old town.

Along this beautiful coastline, you’ll find numerous small pebble coves as well as concrete sunbathing areas perfect for relaxing. The beach also offers a breathtaking view of the charming town of Rovinj, along with beautiful sea colors and well-maintained swimming areas. During the summer months, a small beach kiosk provides refreshments, and in high season, sun loungers and umbrellas are available for rent.

Tip: Not far from the Porton Biondi Beach is a charming campsite with really chic mobile homes like the HARMONIA Mobile Home and the Mobile Home JOY!

Kuvi Beach

Kuvi Beach is definitely one of the more unique beaches in Rovinj. It is located between the forest park and the Villas Rubin resort area. Here, you can enjoy a peaceful and relaxing swimming experience in a fantastic setting. This fine pebble beach offers easy access to the clear sea, which slopes very gently—something that families with small children and older visitors especially appreciate.

The cozy Cuve Beach Bar adds to the relaxed atmosphere and is a great spot to unwind. About 200 meters south of the bay, you’ll also find the Kuvi nudist (FKK) beach, making it a great option for naturists as well.

Tip: The Residence Vaal is around a 10-minute walk away and impresses with its stylish rooms, beautiful location and delicious breakfast.

Polari Beach

Polari Beach, located at the Polari campsite, is highly recommended. This large holiday complex offers pools, restaurants, and plenty of entertainment options. Here, you’ll find particularly idyllic swimming spots, with the beach consisting partly of rocks and partly of fine pebbles. The large trees lining the bay provide plenty of shade, and the crystal-clear sea is perfect for swimming.

Snorkeling along the rocky areas also reveals an interesting underwater world. The small beach bar is another highlight, offering snacks, coffee, and refreshing drinks during the summer months.

Tip: Very popular for a beach vacation in Rovinj are the beautiful mobile homes at the Polari campsite. The sea is also not far away from here.

Vestar Beach

The picturesque Veštar Beach is a real insider tip for a beach holiday in Rovinj. Visitors love this beautiful, sheltered bay located within the Veštar campsite. Of course, non-campers can also access this long, dreamlike beach. We especially enjoy coming here early in the morning, when the entire bay is still wonderfully quiet.

Families with children particularly appreciate this beach, as it slopes very gently into the sea and even turns into a sandy seabed in the water. Thanks to its protected location, there are hardly any waves, and in some areas, you can wade up to 50 meters into the sea.

Tip: Recommended are here the beautiful mobile homes at Camping Vestar. Guests appreciate the cleanliness and a great atmosphere.

Cisterna Beach

Cisterna Beach is uniquely beautiful and a true natural gem. This picturesque pebble bay is located about 7 kilometers from Rovinj within a nature reserve. Access is mostly via a well-maintained gravel road, which is easy to drive on. For many, Cisterna Beach is one of the most idyllic beaches around Rovinj, as it feels far more untouched than many other beaches in the area.

The sea here is wonderfully clear and calm, and small trees provide pleasant shade on hot days. During the high season, a small beach bar opens, while in the off-season, you’ll often have this secluded, wild and romantic beach almost entirely to yourself.

Conclusion

The beaches around Rovinj are, for us, among the most beautiful swimming spots in all of Istria. Especially the bays in the Zlatni Rt forest park or popular beaches like Lone Bay and Mulini are perfect for a relaxing beach day—we would choose them again and again for a beach holiday.

At the same time, it’s well worth exploring a bit outside the town—particularly quieter natural beaches like Cisterna impressed us with their unspoiled and authentic scenery.
