Bratislava: Top 10 attractions & viewpoints

Are you planning a trip to Bratislava? In this travel blog post we are going to share with you the best attractions of Bratislava that you shouldn`t miss and we will talk about the best views in town.

Take a walk along the beautiful promenade of the Danube River, check out some of the cool bars and coffee places and visit the most stunning viewpoints of Bratislava. Also, don`t miss to search for the well-known sculptures of Bratislava throughout the town.  It’s worth to spend some time in this city to explore the best places around – we recommend to stay there at least for 2 nights!

Sightseeing Bratilava: Top 10 tourist attractions


1. Primates Palace

The Primate`s Palaces with its beautiful light pink color and its outstanding architecture. Also you should visit the palaces inside – the interior with all the paintings and the exquisite furniture is breath-taking.

2. Main Square & Old Town Hall

Climb up the Old Town Hall narrow stairs and you will get rewarded with a wonderful view of the old Town and down to the main Square (Hlavne Namestie). The atmosphere of the main square is absolutely charming above all in winter time when the popular Christmas market takes place.

3. The Statues of Bratislava

The Statues of Bratislava are probably the most photographed tourist attractions of the town. This eye-catching sculptures are located all over the old town and somehow you will always pass them. The most popular ones are the Cumil – a man looking out of a manhole. The Schone Naci, a very happy appearance and the Napoleon soldier – leaning over the bench.

4. Michaels Gate

This unique gate counts to the top sights of Bratislava. We recommend to visit the upper terrace of its 51-metre-high tower! From there we had an enchanting view of the Bratislava Castle and the Old Town.

5. Ufo

The UFO in Bratislava is an observation deck and a restaurant on the edge of the SNP Bridge. With a height of 95 meters it offers one of the best viewpoints of Bratislava. The 360 degree view at the top deck is spectacular and was one of our top attractions.

6. Bratislava Castle

This wonderful and photogenic white castle is located on the hill top of Bratislava. The castle garden is lovely and the view to the city is awesome too. Definitely a must see!

7. St.Martin`s Cathedral

The imposing 85 m high tower dominates all of the old town and so the cathedral counts to the top sights of Bratislava. You can`t miss that sight, the church is located the way between old town and the castle.

8. Blue Church – Bratislava

The Blue church is like no other, somehow it looks like out of a fairytale. If you would like to admire its beauty from the inside you have to be there early in the morning! The opening hours are from 7.00-7.30.

9. Walking around the Danub River

It’s really special walking over this great Danube River! You will find plenty of fantastic views crossing the bridges and along the river. Most people are crossing the Novy Most for visiting the UFO viewing platform. We also recommend to walk next to the river side and also to use the Stary Most Bridge. It’s the next bridge downstream and we had been overwhelmed about the amazing view.


10. Devin Castle

The Devin Castle remembers somehow on a Scottish scenery. Located in a stunningly beautiful scenery visiting this ruins was a wonderful experience and this old castle is one of the best tourist attractions in Bratislava. Its located 10 km outside from the city and reachable by bus, car or even by boat.

LOVED our brief visit — an afternoon, evening and the next morning — and your post took us down memory lane a bit.   11. What a beautiful city to visit. I love the looks of the town square with the Christmas markets. I am such a fan of church architecture, so the Blue Church and St. Martin’s Cathedral really catch my eye. I think this would be a perfect place for a stroll along the Danube.
