Marianske Lazne Guide: A Historical Spa Getaway

The Czech Republic has lots of fantastic places to offer, while our trip through this country we had the possibility to visit some of the best tourist spots. One of them, Marianske Lazne also called Marienbad is an historical spa village. The first spa house opened in 1805, just a few years later in 1818 Marianske Lazne was declared as a public spa. Numerous “celebrities” like Goethe, Chopin, Gustav Mahler, Friedrich Nietzsche, Franz Kafka, Mark Twain, the English king Edward VII and Emperor Franz Joseph came to visit this beautiful spa town.

Why to visit Marianske Lazne (Marienbad)

Marianske Lazne is one of the ultimate best Czech spa towns to visit! Until today, the spa town is offering the traditional spa treatments. There is a large variety of local healing springs which are popular for their healthiness. Since ages they are successfully used to treat a wide range of disorders.

Eye-catching buildings, parks and pavilions are creating the town’s picturesque and calm atmosphere. You will find a laid-back vibe, relaxing and enjoying are the top activities to do :). Don`t miss to delight yourself with the sweet traditional crisp spa wafers – they are delicious! The highlights of the town are the Colonnade and the Singing Fountain. The Singing Fountain is located just in front of the Colonnades and in summer time, classical music will be played in regular intervals.

Danubius Hotels – Roman bath experience

Located in the historical center you will find plenty of elegant prestige hotels. They are dominating the historic townscape and are a tourist attraction by themselves. We stayed in one of the beautiful Danubius Hotels.

We really loved our stay in the Danubius Hotels . In former times this renovated prestige hotel was a hotspot of the aristocracy – no one less than the English King Edward VII was a regular guest there!

Bathing in Roman style baths with its original red pillars from 1896 was such a great experience!

If you want to see the Roman baths you have to book a room in one of the Danubius Hotels in Marianske Lazne. They are all connected with a tunnel and you can use all the amenities like bars, restaurants, a beautiful Viennese Cafe and nice pools. At the Therapy & Wellness Centre, you can enjoy a variety of treatments with mineral waters from an on-site spring.
